DAVIE, Fla.—The Barry men’s soccer lost 4-2 to the Nova Southeastern Sharks at NSU’s University Field on Wednesday.

Sharks (6-3-0, 2-0-0 SSC) forward Anton Siedlitzki opened the scoring in the 2nd minute off of a feed from midfielder Michael Collins and Michael Kammermeyer and Collins tallied in the 10th and 23rd minutes respectively.

But in the 25th minute, the game was delayed for more than an hour due to lightening and rain in the South Florida region, before play resumed with NSU holding the 3-0 first-half lead.

When the teams returned to the pitch, the Buccaneers (6-3-0, 1-3-0 SSC) dominated play, with Marcus Reynolds scoring twice. He connected with Jason Wiles and Serkan Sener in the 29th minute, then headed home a cross from Henry Apaloo in the 76th minute.

The Bucs narrowly missed tying the game on several occasions, including a cross from Apaloo that rolled the length of the six-yard box with less than a minute to play. But Lorcan Cronin sealed the Sharks victory with a break-away goal in the closing seconds, after the Sharks cleared the ball out of the box.

Chris Rich had three saves for the Bucs and Ryan Alexander swept a shot off the line after the rain-slicked ball scooted away from Rich.  Jarod Rennick, who started the game for the Sharks, had three saves in the first half, but was replaced in the second half by Steven Deering who made five saves in the second period. The Sharks also benefitted from two back saves.

The loss was the third straight for the Bucs after starting the season with a school-record six-game winning streak. They will host #17-ranked Rollins on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
