MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University women’s basketball team earned their second win of the season on Tuesday night, beating cross-town rival St. Thomas 58-51.
The Bobcats (1-3) struck first as Cindy Castrillon drained a three-pointer.
The Bucs (2-1) struck back immediately, going on a 17-6 run, capped off by an Anika Rivera layup, to go up 17-9.
St. Thomas fought back, going on an 11-0 run to tie the score at 17-17. Barry was strong down the stretch, taking a 31-21 lead going into the half.
The Bucs held multiple leads in the second half, including their largest of 16 with 7:53 remaining in the game. The Bobcats would cut the to lead three with 1:32 remaining, yet Barry went on to win 58-51.
For the Bucs, Mariessa Greene earned her second-straight double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 17 boards. Christina Thompson added nine points while Tilde Ahlin had seven.
The Bucs return to action tomorrow night at Florida International at 7:00 pm.
