FELLSMERE, Fla. – The Barry University women’s rowing team is coming off a solid performance at the Florida Fall Classic with the varsity 4+ boat achieving the best result finishing second in the women’s varsity 4+ event out of 10 boats.
The varsity 4+ (Ivana Fredotovic, coxswain; Linsey Bierschbach, stroke; Lindsay Edmonds, Robin Cascioli, Elise Carlson, bow) rowed a time of 13:02 to finish second just 0:08 seconds behind Nova Southeastern’s “A” shell who finished first with a time of 12:54. Florida Tech finished third at 13:26. In the same race, Barry’s varsity “B” shell (Caitlin McGowan; cox; Rebeka Evans, stroke; Van Cheska Koch, Patricia Pete, Stephanie Urso, bow) finished 10th at 16:50.
In the women’s novice 4+ event, the final race of the day, the Buccaneers (Ebony Fat, cox; Summerlin Knipe, stroke; Gloria Rodriguez; Rebekah Evans, Van Cheska Koch, bow) finished fifth out of six boats with a time of 15:02, 0:18 seconds in front of sixth-place Florida at 15:20. Florida Tech’s novice shell finished first at 14:18, while Nova Southeastern (14:21) and Stetson (14:22) finished one second apart in second and third respectively. Rollins (14:45) finished fourth.
The Buccaneers conclude their fall season at the Florida Fall Classic, but will look to make strong strides in the spring championship season.
