ORLANDO- The Sunshine State Conference inducted 19 new members to its Hall of Fame, including two former Buccaneer stars: Jenny Nilsson-Tecklenberg and Christian Witt.  Induction ceremonies for the Class of 2007-08 took place on Saturday, June 14, at the Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Nilsson-Tecklenberg is arguably one of the greatest players to ever play women’s soccer in the SSC. At the time of her graduation, she held records for most goals (61), assists (36), points (158) and game-winning goals (14). She was a three-time All-SSC performer and was co-Player of the Year in 1999 as the Bucs won the first of six straight conference titles.

In 2000, she set a mark that still stands with 62 points (25 goals and 12 assists) as the Bucs again went undefeated in the conference. For her career, the Bucs posted a 46-8-1 overall mark and went 15-1 in the SSC. She also helped row the Buccaneers’ varsity 8+ boat to a pair of gold medals and back-to-back SSC championships in 1999 and 2000, giving her four conference titles in two sports.

Witt was a fixture atop the Buccaneer lineup in his two seasons. He posted a 40-4 dual match record in singles to set the Barry record for winning percentage. He won back-to-back Rolex Singles Titles in NCAA Division II, the last player to do so. In 2000, he was named the GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year, maintaining a 4.0 GPA in his MBA program.

The two inductees bring the Buccaneer contingent in the SSC Hall of Fame to 12. They join former president Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, former director of athletics and dean Dr. G. Jean Cerra, former women's soccer coaches Michael L. Covone and Kyllene Carter-Weiss and student-athletes Mickisha Hurley, Marya Morusiewicz, Cindy Yuan-Suger (volleyball), Herbert Bende (men’s tennis), Stephanie Caldwell (softball), and Anna Hallbergson (women’s tennis) were previously inducted.

Every member institution with eligible student-athletes, coaches, and administrators is represented in the 2007-08 class.

The Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame was founded in 1991 to honor those persons who have made outstanding contributions to the conference.  Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those who brought distinction, honor, and excellence to the SSC.
