On Thursday, Oct. 15, Barry University President Sister Linda Bevilacqua and selected students and administrators from Barry attended the Florida Campus Compact Community Service Awards Luncheon in downtown Miami. The event, held at Miami Dade College's Freedom Tower, hosted special guest First Lady Michelle Obama, who encouraged students to become more involved with community service as the event's keynote speaker.
Barry University participated in the event by inviting highly engaged students and administrators to the luncheon. Sister Linda was joined by Dr. Linda Peterson and Barry administrators Victoria Champion, Steffano Montano, Anwar Cruter and Laura Fothergill. Five students were also selected to represent Barry University at the event, including Legna Rodriguez, Daniel Armstrong, Michael Chin, Emily Hanna and Chasity Wogerman.
Barry University podiatry students and Dr. Albert Armstrong, assistant professor of radiology and assistant academic dean for the School of Podiatric Medicine, were also recognized during the event for their work with the Miami Rescue Mission, which received the Campus-Community Partnership Award.
