On Thursday, Oct. 29, Barry faculty and staff kicked off Halloween early at Student Affairs' Annual Faculty/Staff Halloween Party. Faculty and staff were invited to the Landon Grille from 3 to 5 p.m. for Halloween snacks and a costume competition.
Faculty and staff from the College of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences stole the show dressed as HPLS Blond Rhythm Agents Plus (+) One with black shades, black suits, blond wigs and rock 'n' roll guitars. Sandra Acevedo, Maureen Bigby, Andy Havens, Nell McGhee, Rosie Pumariega and Georgette Sargent took home "Best Overall" after performing to "Boogie Shoes" and "Play that Funky Music."
The Student Health Center and the Student Union drew costume inspiration from current health issues. Nicole Dempsey, Mari Exelrud, Pam Foster, Candice Hill, Melda Louis, Elizabeth Page and Corvette Yacoob earned "Scariest" for bringing the Swine Flu to life with swine noses and matching virus T-shirts.
"Most Original" was handed to Disability Services for selecting a Mexican theme as The Dancing Banditos. Daniel Crow, Ria Hutton, Allison Kowlessar and Leslie Rouder paired traditional Mexican wear with sombreros and maracas for colorful and culturally-driven costumes.
