MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team used a seven-run seventh inning rally to defeat Adelphi University, 10-0, Tuesday night at Feinbloom field.
The Bucs (15-6) entered the game in the midst of a four-game losing streak after starting the season 14-2, but Barry put last weekend’s series behind and got back on track both offensively and on the mound.
Nate Greeve (2-1) got the start for the Bucs and delivered six innings of shutout baseball and struck out three while scattering four hits.
Adrian English led the offense with a 4-for-5, 3 RBI night and the Bucs out-hit the Panthers 14-6 on the night.
With a 3-0 lead, the Bucs sent 12 men to the plate in the seventh inning and scored seven runs on seven hits to take a commanding 10-0 lead.
Mike Diaz led the rally with a single to left and J.C. Cardenas followed with an RBI triple to right-center to drive in the speedy Diaz.
Tyler Kellmann’s RBI single scored Cardenas and after Adrian English belted a double to deep left-center, Branden Shaw singled to right field to drive in the third run of the inning.
Now with a 6-0 lead and runners on the corners, Greg Brodzinski doubled to left-center to drive in two more runs as English and Shaw crossed the plate.
Ramon Valdez singled to put runners on the corners once again and after a Panther’s pitching change the Bucs used two walks and a hi-by-pitch to push two more runs across and make it 10-0.
Joeantohony Rivera entered in the seventh and tossed a pair of scoreless innings and Joe Iorio worked a quick ninth to finish the victory.
Barry returns to action on Wednesday with a matchup against American International University at Feinbloom field beginning at 6 pm.
