Men's Golf Finishes In Sixth At Southeastern Collegiate

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Barry University men's golf team finished in sixth at the Southeastern Collegiate Tuesday afternoon.

Barry 856 (296-283-291) finished 14-strokes behind Nova Southeastern, who won the invite after a second playoff hole to defeat Georgia College and State University.

Valdosta State 864, Florida Southern 865 and Lynn 868, finished in third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Carlos Velez 217 (72-72-73) led the Bucs as he finished in a tie for 18th overall.

Victor Billskoog 218 (75-69-74) fired one-stroke behind Perez on the final day to finish in a tie for 21st.

Chris Carlin and Chris Davis each finished in a tie for 32nd, but each golfer reached it in a different fashion.

Carlin 220 (74-76-70) and Davis 220 (75-69-76) fired six-strokes apart on the final day, but finished with the same overall result.

Daniel Stapff rounded out the scoring, as he fired a 223 (76-73-74) to finish in a tie for 51st.

The Bucs will be back in action this Monday, Mar. 23 when they travel to Milledgeville, GA for the Bobcat Invitational.

Bucs Move Up Three Spots

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Victor Billskoog and Chris Davis made big strides in the second round of the Southeastern Collegiate, as they join Carlos Velez in a tie for 16th overall which has the Bucs as a team in fifth after two rounds.

The Bucs 579 (296-283) are 11-strokes off the pace as Georgia College and State University continues to lead the way with a 568.

Nova Southeastern 571, host Valdosta State 575 and Lynn University 577, are in second, third and fourth respectively.

Billskoog (75-69) and Davis (75-69) each fired 69's on Monday to bring their two-day totals to 144, which also has them in a tie with teammate Velez 144 (72-72) for 16th overall.

Daniel Stapff 149 (76-73) is in a tie for 48th, while Chris Carlin 150 (74-76) is in a tie for 55th.

The Bucs will play the final round of the Southeastern Collegiate Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

Men's Golf In Eighth After First Round

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Barry University men’s golf team currently sits in 8th out of 17 teams after the first round of the Southeastern Collegiate Invitational Sunday at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Course.

The Bucs fired a 296, with Carlos Velez leading the way with a 72 (37-35), which has him tied for 15th overall.

Georgia College and State University leads the invite with a 285, two-strokes ahead of host Valdosta State.

Three Sunshine State Conference foes are right in the thick of things as well, as Nova Southeastern (288) is in third, Rollins College (289) and Lynn (289) are tied for fourth.

Chris Carlin (39-35=74) sits just two-strokes behind Velez and is in a tie for 36th.

Victor Billskoog (40-35) and Chris Davis (37-38) both fired a 75 which has them in a tie for 44th.

Daniel Stapff rounds out the team scoring, as he fired a 76 (35-41), which has him in a tie for 56th.

The Bucs will continue the Southeastern Collegiate Invite Monday at 9 a.m.
