AMERICUS, Ga.—The Barry baseball team falls 12-8 and 3-2 to the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes on Sunday.

The Buccaneers found themselves in a 3-0 hole in the fourth inning before rattling off four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, then added three more runs in the fifth to make it a 7-3 game. However, Georgia Southwestern was not finished scoring when they registered nine more runs in a span of three innings from the fifth to the seventh.

In a noon-time double header, sophomore T.J. Mullins received the nod for game one and took a no decision in the matchup. Mullins gave up seven hits, seven runs, and six earned runs in four and a third innings. The sophomore also recorded two strikeouts.

Left fielder Manny Pedrozo posted a multiple hit game with a double and two singles going 3-4 in game one. Transfer Ryan Garcia also chipped in with multiple hits going 3-5 and just a triple shy of the cycle for the game. Garcia blasted a two-run homerun in the fifth and tallied two RBIs and two runs. Center fielder Harold Holness also belted a double and a single with three RBIs.

The second game proved to be a very different story as both pitchers battled out a low scoring affair. Another sophomore took the mound for game two. Brad McAllister went six and two-thirds innings, gave up eight hits all three earned runs and took the loss. In his first start of the season, McAllister posted one strike out and no walks.

In the second game, the Barry offense totaled two runs on nine hits. The first run came in the seventh inning when Chris Leon scored on a wild pitch. The second run for the Bucs came in the top of the ninth when Leon again scored, this time on a Nick Shaw sacrifice fly to center field. Barry left nine players on base in the second game.

Garcia posted a 3-4 night in the second game with a double and two singles. On the day, Garcia went 6-9 with a home run, and two doubles.

The next game for the Buccaneers is Friday, in Greenwood, S.C. against Lander, starting at 6 p.m.
