PONTE VERDE, Fla.— The Barry University women’s golf team wrapped up competition at the Queens University of Charlotte Invitational on Tuesday afternoon. After a first-round 334, the Bucs fired a combined 345 in the second round for a team-total 679. The Bucs fell three spots to finish the tournament in ninth place overall.
For the Buccaneers, Isadora Stapff led the way with a 161 (79-82). Stapff finished the tournament in a four-way tie for ninth place individually.
Taylor Babcock posted a 168 (82-86) to finish 24th overall.
Anne Fourdraine and Louise Perulf finished in close range to each other. Fourdraine shot a 173 (87-89) while Perulf was five strokes off Fourdraine with a 178 (87-91).
Lizzi Over wrapped it up for the Bucs. Over shot a 180 (86-94) for the tournament.
DAY ONE RESULTS
PONTE VERDE, Fla.— The sixth-ranked Barry University women’s golf team got their spring season underway on Monday morning in the Queens University of Charlotte Invitational. After the first round of action, The Bucs are in sixth place with a team total 334. Belmont Abbey leads the pack with a 316. West Florida (318) is in second while Ashland (324) rounds out to the top three.
"We are all a little disappointed with the results," head coach Gina Umeck said. "But none of us are complacent. We're ready to go out there and have a much better day tomorrow."
Isadora Stapff leads the way for the Buccaneers. Stapff is tied for fourth with a 79.
Taylor Babcock fired an 82, finishing tied seventh on the day while Lizzi Over is just outside the top ten, tied for eleventh, having shot an 86.
Louise Perulf and Anne Fourdraine round out the Buccaneers’ squad. Both players shot an 87 and are tied for 12th overall.
Individually, Jennifer Gartin of West Florida sits atop the field of 65 individual golfers with a three-over-par score of 75.
Gartin holds a one stroke lead over Belmont Abbey’s Michelle Low and Mount Olive’s Valentina Urquiola who are tied in second place. Erica Ray of Carson-Newman College is in the third spot after shooting a 77 on the 72-par course.
The second round of play begins tomorrow at 8:30 am in a shotgun start.
