Volleyball Downs Sailfish in Three

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—The Barry University volleyball team knocked off the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-18) on Wednesday night. The Bucs combined for 41 kills in the win.
 
The teams were evenly matched throughout the majority of all three sets. In set one the Bucs were up 17-15 late in the game before taking eight of 11 points to take the set 25-18.
 
In set two, the Sailfish (14-4) hung with the Bucs till midway through the game when the teams were tied 16-16. Barry used a three-point run, which included two Alicia Guerrero service aces and a Stefanie Sveiven kill, to take a 19-16 lead. Three points was as close as PBA would get as the Bucs went on to win 25-22.
 
In set three, Barry established dominance early taking a 17-11 lead and pushing it out to 21-13. The Sailfish scored four straight to get close at 21-17, but Barry remained resilient closing out the set with the help of kills by Lanie Muys and Ady Alcantara.
 
For the Bucs, Alcantara led the way on offense with 15 kills and an ace. Guerrero added four aces while Libby Walter had 35 assists.
 
The Buccaneers don’t return to action again until Friday, October 22 when they travel to Saint Leo to take on the Lions at 7:00 pm.
