93 Buccaneers Earn Barry University Honors During Fall 2010

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—For the Barry University athletic department, fall semester 2010 saw over 62 percent of all student-athletes earn spots on the honors lists, including 10 on the President’s List.

 

Of the 10 members of the President’s List (from eight different teams), nine are making their first appearance on the list: Alex Decker (Baseball), Anne Fourdraine (Women’s Golf), Amanda Frontino (Women’s Basketball), Katrina Molfetta (Women’s Soccer), Barbi Pocza (Women’s Tennis), Hannah Shy (Softball), Joanna Stewart (Women’s Soccer), Angie Werschel (Women’s Tennis), Willie Whitfield (Men’s Basketball). Alicia Guerrero (Volleyball) is the sole repeat member, earning a 4.0 GPA for the second time in three semesters.

 

In addition to the members of the President’s List, 49 student-athletes were named to the Dean’s List (GPA of 3.5 to 3.999) and 34 to the Athletic Director’s List (GPA of 3.2 to 3.499).

 

For the semester, nine of the 12 teams compiled a term GPA of 3.0 or better, led by the women’s tennis team’s 3.424. Soccer topped the men’s programs with a 3.221 mark. For all student-athletes combined, the term resulted in a 3.143 GPA.

 

Continuing a tradition of academic success, 64.3 percent of all student-athletes finished the term with a 3.0 cumulative GPA and nine of 12 teams have compiled a cumulative mark of 3.0 or better. For the department, the 185 student-athletes have a 3.155 cumulative GPA.
