LAKELAND, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped a 60-50 decision to the Florida Southern Moccasins in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball action in Jenkins Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The Bucs (9-12, 2-9 SSC) led 39-29 after a three-pointer by Yvonne Houston with 16:42 left in the game. But the Mocs (16-4, 8-2 SSC) rolled off a 15-4 run over the next seven minutes to take a 44-43 lead on a three-pointer my Megan Dzikas with 9:44 remaining.
They pushed the lead to 54-44 at the 4:51 mark on a three-point play by Michaela Hawley and held on for the 10-point win.
Houston led the Bucs with a game-high 22 points, but was the only Buccaneer in double figures. Emma Cannon led the Mocs with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Dzikas added 15 points and Hawley had 14.
The Bucs come home to face the Rollins Tars on Wednesday, Feb. 9 in the Health & Sports Center.
