Baseball Brings The Bats In a 16-2 Win Over Merrimack

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Propelled by 17 hits, the Barry University baseball team trounced the Merrimack Warriors 16-2 at Feinbloom field on Monday night. Eight Buccaneer players landed a hit in the win.
 
The Bucs (18-8) started in the first inning when Adrian English blasted a homerun into the atmosphere to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead. Merrimack (6-4) scored two in the second to take the short lead, but the Bucs struck back with six runs in the bottom half of the second to take a 7-2 lead. Ryan Garcia, James Young, Lyndon Coleman, Luis Arrizurieta, Dean Green, and Drew Dwelly scored in the inning.
 
The Bucs went on to score nine more runs, two in the fourth, four in the fifth, and three in the sixth. Highlights included a deep Young homer in the sixth followed by a Green double that scored Dwelly and Arrizurieta.
 
Frank Szczepanik took the win for Barry, moving to 1-1 on the season. Keith Johansen took the loss for Merrimack. He moves to 1-1 on the season.
 
The Bucs return to action tomorrow night against Plam Beach Atlantic at 6:00 pm.
