Women's Golf Finishes Seventh At SSC Tournament

BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry women’s golf team finished seventh at the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Golf Championship this week at the Boca Raton Country Club. The Bucs fired a 347-324-330—1001.

Nova Southeastern claimed their third straight conference title at 300-297-308—905, four strokes ahead of Florida Southern 294-303-312—909. Rollins (299-311-304—914), Lynn (319-308-332—959) and Saint Leo (316-314-332—962) rounded out the top five.

Sandra Changkija of Nova won the individual medal for the third time in four years with a four-over-par 72-72-76—220.

Freshman Sophie Weilguni paced the Bucs, tying for 19th overall, shooting three-over-par on the final round to finish 80-83-75—238. Junior Lizzi Over was three strokes back in 22nd place at 82-77-82—241.

Taylor Babcock (91-81-81—253), Anne Fourdraine (94-83-92—269) and Lucia Garcia (98-92-97—275) rounded out the team score.
 
Women's Golf Wraps Up First Day At Conference Tournament
 
BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry University women’s golf team began play at the 2011 Sunshine State Conference Women’s Golf Tournament on Monday morning. After the first two rounds of action, the Bucs are in tied for seventh with a 671 (347-324).
 
Defending National Champions Nova Southeastern (300-297) is tied for first with Florida Southern (294-303) with a nine over 597. Rollins is in third with a 610 (299-311). Lynn and Saint Leo round out the top-five, Lynn posted a 627 (319-308) for fourth while Saint Leo posted a 630 (316-314) for fifth.
 
Lizzi Over led the way for Barry. Over shot a 159 (82-77) to tie for 20th overall. Sophie Weilguni fired a 163 (80-83) and is in 26th after two rounds.
 
Taylor Babcock finished the day in 32nd place with a 172 (91-81). Anne Fourdraine and Sophia Garcia rounded out the Buccaneer five. Fourdraine shot a 177 (94-83) to tie for 35th while Garcia fired a 190 (98-92) for 40th place.
 
The Bucs return to action tomorrow for the third and final round.
