Softball Closes Out Season At NCAA Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—The Barry Buccaneers fell 8-0 to the Valdosta State Blazers in an elimination game at the NCAA Division II South Region I Tournament at Charger Field on the campus of the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday.

The Blazers (41-10) scored in every inning but one to end the contest in six innings. Ashley Steinhilber had a two-run single in the sixth inning to force across the eighth run and end the game on the run rule.

Holly Satterfield (24-5) went the distance for the win. She allowed just two hits, both infield singles by Amber Durkin and a walk to Grace Collins, while striking out four. Paula Mackin (13-4) took the loss for the Buccaneers (34-14). She worked 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk.

The Bucs finish the season in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time and the fourth under coach Danielle Penner.
