WEST PLAM BEACH, Fla.—The Barry women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Northwood Seahawks on Wednesday at Arrigo Field.

Stinne Laursen chipped in a 55-yard free kick in the 23rd minute for the game’s only score.

The Bucs (6-8-0) had two golden opportunities in the second half to even the game. After being out-shot 13-1 in the first period, the Bucs trimmed the difference to 7-5 in the second period and had by far the more dangerous chances.

In the 51st minute, Melissa Madrid served a perfect cross into the box, but the header from Emma Karp glanced off the right post. In the 73rd minute, Sara Karna served a cross from the right wing over the head of the Seahawk keeper, but it caromed off the left post.

Emily Brunnschweiler had seven saves for the Bucs, while Matilda Ojaniemi made four saves for the Seahawks (9-1-1).

The Bucs host the Saint Leo Lions on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7:00 pm and will celebrate Senior Night for the five seniors on the roster. Live statistics and audio broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
