AMERICUS, Ga—Kevin Youst threw seven strong innings, and the Buccaneers scored two runs in the ninth to come away with a 6-5 victory in the rubber match of a three game set against Georgia Southwestern on Sunday.

Barry (2-1) took an early three run lead when they got to Frank Ambrosino in the top of the first, capped off by a Bryant Elliott solo homerun. The Buccaneers would squander a four run lead after the Hurricanes scored three in the third and one in the fourth to tie the game up at four. Both teams would struggle to push one across in the middle innings, but Blane Parker broke the tie in the bottom of the eighth with a solo homerun off T.J. Mullins to give the Hurricanes the lead.

The Bucs, down one in the ninth, proved to be a resilient bunch. With runners on first and second and one out Adrian English hit hard groundball through the left side, driving in Sam Halpern and tying the game at five.

Then, after a walk to Sheehan Planas, Lyndon Coleman grounded into a fielder’s choice to the shortstop John Duran but he hustled down the line and beat out the throw and avoided the double play to push the go-a-head run across.

Planas, finished 3-for-3, including an RBI double in the first. English and Coleman each finished with two hits.

Mullins earned the victory for the Bucs allowing one run in two innings of work. Youst pitched seven innings allowing four runs, 2earned, and striking out one.

The Bucs now head back to Florida and will face Nova Southeastern on Tuesday night in Davie, FL as a non-conference matchup.

First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. with live-stat and audio broadcast available through the Barry University athletic website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
