MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The 4th ranked Buccaneers took home another victory after defeating 18th ranked Florida Tech Tuesday afternoon in decisive fashion.
Barry (7-0, 5-0 SSC) began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches and were led by the duo of Vojku Lukic and Linda Fritschken who defeated Katarina Huba and Kristina Huba, 8-1. The Panthers (4-3, 2-2 SSC) were led by the Huba sisters who entered the match as the No. 7ranked doubles team in the country.
At the No. 2 flight, Julie Stas teamed up with Olivia Matuszak to pick up an 8-3 win while Mona Mansour and Cristina Valladares also won 8-1.
The Buccaneers carried the momentum and finished the afternoon sweeping all six singles matches. Vojka defeated Kristina Huba 6-4, 6-2 at the number one flight.
Cristina Valladares, ranked 21st in singles, defeated Katarina Huba 6-3, 6-1 and No. 24 Caroline Wendling defeated Steph Dohner 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot.
Julie Stas continued her strong play by defeating Abby Greif 6-2, 6-0. Akemi Maehama moved to (4-0) on the year in singles play by ousting Abbey Keister 6-1, 6-3 at the fifth flight. Lizbeth Vargas sealed the shutout for Barry with a victory over Monica Price 6-1, 6-7, 10-3.
The Bucs carry an unblemished record and a No. 4 ranking into their next match on Sunday, Mar. 4th when they host North Florida University at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
