SKILLMAN, N.J. -- Barry University women's tennis team finished the season with the No. 1 ranking in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll.
The Buccaneers went 28-1 to win the NCAA Division II National Championship.
Sophomore Emma Onila finished the year with the No. 5 singles ranking in the country. She went 11-4, which included an 8-4 record against ranked opponents. Onila earned All-American honors. The top 20 ranked singles players in the nation receive All-American acclaim.
Sophomore Karina Goia finished the season ranked 16th in singles. She went 16-1 to earn All-American honors.
Junior Linda Fritschken was ranked No. 19, following an 18-3 season that culminated with a win over an opponent who finished with the No. 11 national ranking in the NCAA Championship match. Fritschken also received All-American honors.
Sophomore Kimmy Twelker and freshman Ana Pain finished the year with the No. 6 doubles ranking to earn All-American acclaim. Twelker and Pain went 19-6 in pairs play, which included an 11-5 mark at the No. 1 flight. The top 10 ranked doubles teams receive All-American honors.
Onila and Fritschken capped the year with a No. 8 ranking to earn All-American distinction. Onila and Fritschken went 20-2 with a 12-0 record at the No. 2 spot.
