PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Barry University's Emma Onila is moving on to the ITA South Region Championships finals. In both singles and doubles.
Onila, the No. 8 seed, beat fourth-seeded Ioana Ivan, 6-0, 5-7, 6-1, in Sunday's singles semifinals at the four-day tournament hosted by West Florida. Onila will play Ivan's teammate, Val Confalonieiri, in Monday's 9 a.m. final.
Confalonieri, the No. 2 seed, defeated Barry's Karina Goia, 6-3, 6-4, in Sunday's other semifinal.
In doubles play, Onila and Linda Fritschken, the second seed, were 8-1 winners over Florida Southern's Sabine Goge and Magda Riutort, 8-1, in the semifinals. The Buccaneers pair will play Ivan and Confalonieri in Monday's 12 p.m. final.
Ivan and Confalonieri, the tournament's top seed, beat Barry's fourth-seeded Elisabeth Abanda and Goia, 8-2.
