Improving the Digital Experience of Students at Barry University
Noon – 1:00 PM (EST) via Webex
How important is technology in education? The COVID-19 pandemic is quickly demonstrating why digital content, course management systems, and directed software and technology tools should be a vital part of teaching and learning in the in-person classroom. By integrating technology into existing curricula, as opposed to using it solely as a crisis-management tool, faculty can harness the power of the digitalization of the learning experience. We have long known that the effective use of digital learning tools in classrooms can increase student engagement, help teachers improve their lesson plans, and facilitate personalized learning. It also helps students build essential 21st-century skills.
Our panelists for this discussion include Dr. Jeanne Antolchick (Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, College of Nursing & Health Sciences), Dr. Jacob Ausderan (Associate Professor of Political Science, College of Arts & Sciences), Dr. Randy Peterson (Assistant Professor of Education and Program Director MS/EdS Leadership, School of Education) and a special guest, Dr. Robert Franchino. Dr. Franchino is a high school administrator for Curriculum/Instruction, Arts and Technology at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN. Dr. Franchino is also a clinical instructor at Barry University in the Educational Leadership Program. He will have some interesting perspectives on technology integration within the K-12 curriculum.
