At Barry our professors are doing great research and publishing widely.
For instance, English Professor Dr. Laura P. Alonso-Gallo is contributing a chapter in a new MLA book titled Teaching Late-Twentieth-Century Mexicana and Chicana Writers. The book, which will be released December 2020, is part of the MLA series Approaches to Teaching World Literature. Dr. Alonso-Gallo’s research is focused on American, Latinx, and comparative literature as well as cultural and gender studies.
Dr. Alonso-Gallo was invited by the editor, Elizabeth Coonrod Martínez, to contribute a chapter specifically about the fiction of author Denise Chávez. Her contribution is titled “Deconstructing Mexican Masculinity in Denise Chávez’s Loving Pedro Infante.”
