Barry’s Professor Dr. Laura Alonso-Gallo’s Writing Will Be Published in New MLA Book on Mexicana and Chicana writers.

At Barry our professors are doing great research and publishing widely.

For instance, English Professor Dr. Laura P. Alonso-Gallo is contributing a chapter in a new MLA book titled Teaching Late-Twentieth-Century Mexicana and Chicana Writers. The book, which will be released December 2020, is part of the MLA series Approaches to Teaching World Literature. Dr. Alonso-Gallo’s research is focused on American, Latinx, and comparative literature as well as cultural and gender studies.

Dr. Alonso-Gallo was invited by the editor, Elizabeth Coonrod Martínez, to contribute a chapter specifically about the fiction of author Denise Chávez. Her contribution is titled “Deconstructing Mexican Masculinity in Denise Chávez’s Loving Pedro Infante.
