A message from the Dean Joan M. Phillips, Ph.D.

Barry University, like other institutions around the globe, has had to take unprecedented steps because of the COVID-19 pandemic to balance our educational mission with the duty to protect the health and well-being of our entire community. The faculty and staff of the Andreas School of Business remain mindful of our mission to develop successful business professionals who have a global orientation, an entrepreneurial attitude, and a strong sense of ethics and social responsibility.

Times like these demonstrate the need for operational flexibility. Our faculty and staff are being creative and resourceful to respond to our student community’s needs and stay resilient. The challenges our students are facing in light of the pandemic, however, are overwhelming. Many of our students are trying to manage challenging issues including wide-spread unemployment in their families. The single most impactful way to support Barry University and our students is through the Opportunity Fund. Contributions from donors like you will ensure that we can pivot our approaches during this evolving situation and our students can continue to receive a world-class business education. Your support can make a difference between someone being able to continue in their program or not.

When you make a gift to the Opportunity Fund, you will have a significant impact on all areas of the university, helping Barry provide students access to quality teaching, modern facilities, and all the resources they need to succeed in their programs and beyond.

Within the Opportunity Fund is the Opportunity Scholarship, a scholarship initiative in which the minimal philanthropic investment is $2,500 per year over four years. This scholarship gives you the chance to make a real and lasting impact on the life of a student. You may designate this scholarship for any specific program in our School.

The strength and compassion of our Barry community is always apparent, but even more so when we come together to care for our students and each other.

Thank you for all that you do to support Barry University.

Warmly,

Joan M. Phillips, Ph.D.
