Grande Tied for Lead at Women's Golf SSC Championships

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Barry University's Paola Grande is tied for the lead after two rounds of the Florida Blue Sunshine State Conference women's golf tournament Monday.

Grande shot 74-78 -- 152 on The Concession Golf Club's par-72 course in the first two rounds. She is tied with Lynn's Irene Calvo and Florida Southern's Melanie Audette at 8-over entering Tuesday's final round.

Barry is fifth as a team after shooting 329-323 -- 652. Lynn leads the tournament by 11 strokes over Florida Southern. The Fighting Knights shot 616, while the Mocs finished the opening two rounds at 627. Nova Southeastern is third at 634, and Rollins is fourth at 650.

Barry won the past two tournaments it competed in.

Barry's Taylor Babcock is tied for 15th after shooting 83-78 -- 161. Teammate Daniela Murray is tied for 23rd after shooting back-to-back 83s. Nancy Vergara is tied for 29th at 173, and Lizzi Over is 34th at 183.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday on the course considered the fourth-best in the state by Golf Digest.
