Barry University Opens New Foot and Ankle Institute at Bay Harbor Islands

Miami Shores, Florida – The Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine is opening a Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute at Bay Harbor Islands on July 9, 2007. The center, located at 1080-1090 Kane Concourse (NW 96th Street) in Bay Harbor Islands, will be open to all Miami area residents from pediatrics to seniors. Patients will be treated by a board certified Barry University clinical faculty member as well as podiatric medical students and residents. All forms of insurance are accepted including HMOs, Medicare, Medicaid, workman’s compensation and private pay. Hours of service are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The new medical center will provide the same high quality podiatric health care services as our other three Foot and Ankles Institutes,” said Dr. John Nelson, associate dean of clinics for Barry’s School of Podiatric Medicine, adding that the new center offers in-office surgery that saves patients the high cost of hospital deductibles for bunion and hammertoe corrective surgeries.

The Barry University Foot and Ankle Institute, first established in 1986, is part of the clinical training component for podiatric medical residents and students of Barry University. In addition to general podiatric care, other services will include wound care, diabetic foot care, athletic injuries and a diabetic shoe service that is available free to diabetic seniors through Medicare.
