We invite the Barry community to celebrate the joyous Jewish holiday of Sukkot, October 2-9. Sukkot is celebrated by dwelling in the succah, a greenery-covered hut, and the taking of the four kinds of vegetation, the lulav and etrog.
By exposing ourselves to the elements in the succah, the holiday commemorates G-d sheltering our ancestors as they traveled from Egypt to the Land of Israel. The four kinds of vegetation express unity and belief in G-d’s omnipresence. Occurring after the solemn High Holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it is a time of joy and happiness.
