In early March Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine student representatives travelled to the Podiatry Insurance Company of America (PICA) in Nashville, TN to attend the American Podiatric Medical Students’ Association (APMSA) Mid-Winter House of Delegates meeting.
The House of Delegates provides a forum to represent students in the podiatric medical community and to advance student initiatives. The APMSA House of Delegates maintains relationships with a number of associations and organizations affiliated with podiatric medicine including its parent organization, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). There are five voting representatives from each school of Podiatric medicine, comprising nine total delegations.
The following Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine student leaders were elected to leadership positions in the House of Delegates:
Thomas Corona Jr. (Class of 2020 delegate) was nominated and elected by his peers to be the President-elect of the APMSA. Thomas will represent all Podiatry students nationwide for the 2019 calendar year.
Vanisaben Patel (Class of 2020 FPMSA President) was nominated and elected by her fellow presidents to be the President of the President’s committee. Vanisaben will serve as the singular voice of all nine student body presidents.
Both of these positions held by Thomas and Vanisaben are important roles as these future doctors strive for continual improvement in the field of podiatric medicine.
