School of Social Work ranks among Top 25 Christian Colleges for a Social Work Degree

Barry University’s Ellen Whiteside McDonnell School of Social Work has been selected among the Top 25 Christian Colleges for a Social Work Degree according to Social Work Degree Guide. Released in May, the rankings use a number of factors including tuition and return on investement to rank the top 25 programs.

According to Social Work Degree Guide, Christian colleges hold a unique appeal to students of faith looking to improve the quality of life and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.

The 2015 rankings were produced using four major factors: average tuition, ROI, student-faculty ratio, and accreditation. Tuition was considered using College Navigator to view a school’s affordability. The rankings used PayScale to view a graduate’s 20-rear ROI for a social work degree. Student-faculty ratio was data collected from The Princeton Review. Finally, accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education was factored into the ranking with schools receiving additional credit for holding multiple rankings.

Barry earned the No. 18 ranking on the index and was credited as being one of the most comprehensive universities on the list with the availability of a BSW, MSW and doctoral program. Barry’s focus on field experience and service learning were also a major factor in its ranking. Barry’s student-faculty ratio of 13:1 was one of the best in the ranking.
