Join Dr. Anita Zavodska, Barry’s resident garbologist, to talk about trash. Learn about garbology, how we study waste and what we learn from it about ourselves, our society and humanity as a whole. We will talk about our impact on the environment, chasing arrows and wish-cycling, and most importantly, how we can all make a difference, one person at a time. Oh, and another thing—we’ll clarify, once and for all, what does and does not belong in a recycling bin.
Dr. Zavodska teaches classes on environment and global warming. She will be joined by her student Gisela Regalado who has already helped (and enjoyed!) garbage sorting with Dr. Z, and two very special helpers: Nick Diaz who is 12 years old and in 7th grade, and Juan Dabdub who is eight and in 3rd grade.
When asked why he wanted to help Dr. Z, Juan said, “I want to be part of the symposium because I love science.”
Nick had some input, too, saying, “ I've always been very interested in science and I am also interested in learning more about the importance of recycling.”
Get your questions about garbage and recycling ready, because we can’t wait to answer them!
