Barry Univ. and Community Learning Partnership of Greater Miami Shores win Campus-Community Partnership Award

Barry Univ. and Community Learning Partnership of Greater Miami Shores win Campus-Community Partnership Award

Barry University and the Community Learning Partnership (CLP) of Greater Miami Shores are the recipients of the 2011 Florida Campus Compact Campus-Community Partnership Award. The accolade comes from Florida Campus Compact (FLCC), a coalition of more than 50 colleges and universities committed to promoting community service, service-learning, and civic engagement.

The Campus-Community Partnership Award recognizes one outstanding campus-community partnership that produces measureable improvements in people’s lives while enhancing higher education in the process.  The purpose of the award is to honor one partnership that has successfully demonstrated a commitment to higher education and the community.

“We are thrilled with this recognition of our efforts to serve and collaborate with the teachers from our nearby elementary and secondary schools and the community of Miami Shores,” said Barry President Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, Ph.D. “We derive great satisfaction and joy from sharing our university resources on behalf of students at all levels.”

The Community Learning Partnership of Greater Miami Shores (CLP), fostered through leadership by Barry University, began in 2008 to strengthen relationships with the local neighborhood; enhance educational outcomes for local schools; and provide a forum for sharing community, school, and university educational opportunities and resources.
