Graduation survey

So that Career Services can best serve Barry students and alumni, we need some information from you! The survey will be available after April 12, 2012. You will receive an email to your Barry mymail account announcing that the survey is available.

Barry University Graduation DVD

Barry University is partnering with gradmemory.com to provide a professional DVD of the 2012 graduation ceremonies to be held on May 5th, 2012. This PERFECT GRADUATION GIFT is available to order now at www.gradmemory.com

The Graduation DVD contains the complete graduation ceremony including all speeches and degree conferral to students. The DVD package can be uniquely PERSONALIZED with your ‘Name’ and ‘Picture’.

Pre-Commencement Activities

Herff-Jones Ring Company will be on campus in the bookstore throughout the semester. The dates that they will be on campus are listed at http://www.barry.edu/commencement/announcements/classRings.htm
Account balance must be under $1000.00 to pick up caps and gowns.

Barry University conforms to the Intercollegiate Code for academic dress which regulates what is worn with the academic gown, hood, and cap for the commencement ceremony. Students may only wear honor cords given by Barry Academic Honors societies. Honor society, sorority/fraternity satin scarves may not be worn. Caps and gowns are included in the graduation fee and may be picked up at the Landon Student Union Bookstore.

* ACE students and Education students who take classes at off main campus sites will receive their caps and gowns from their site directors.

Baccalaureate Mass Cor Jesu Chapel, Barry University Main Campus
Friday, May 4, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
All graduates are invited and encouraged to attend the Baccalaureate Liturgy. The Baccalaureate liturgy is a celebration of graduation. Graduates should wear academic robes (no hoods or caps). Guests of the graduates are welcome.

Rose and Candle Ceremony

Broad Center , Barry University Main Campus
Friday, May 4, 2012 at 6:30 p.m.
All graduates are invited and encouraged to attend the Rose and Candle Ceremony. The Rose and Candle Ceremony is a traditional ceremony at Barry which attempts to symbolize the bonds of friendship and sending forth of graduates. Graduates exchange a candle, the symbol of wisdom and knowledge, with a Barry underclassman of their choice. In return, graduates receive a rose as a symbol of love and friendship. Graduates should wear academic robes (no hoods or caps). Those serving as roses should wear business dress attire. Guests of the graduates are welcome.

All participants should meet in Thompson Hall Lobby at 6:00 p.m.

In recognition of the dignity and importance of the Commencement Ceremony, we ask that all attendees observe good manners and appropriate decorum throughout the Ceremony.

Barry University reserves the right to remove persons who disrupt or disrespect the Ceremony with inappropriate, rude or discourteous behavior or vocal expressions.

Additionally, please hold your applause until all graduates have been recognized so that each graduate’s name can be heard.

Commencement (May 5, 2012)

Over 1,200 students will receive diplomas during graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday May 5, 2012. Two ceremonies will be held at the James L. Knight Convention Center (400 S.E. Second Avenue, Miami, Florida). All graduating students from all of the Barry University campuses are invited to participate.

There will be two ceremonies, one at 10:00 AM and one at 2:30 PM. Schools/Colleges will be designated once the deadline is past.

10:00 AM Ceremony:
College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, School of Education, School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences, School of Social Work

2:30 PM Ceremony:
College of Health Sciences, School of Adult and Continuing Education
