NEW Trauma Informed Social Work Practice in School Settings Course Offering!
Beginning Fall 2017
The purpose of this elective course is to help students develop the knowledge and competencies necessary for trauma informed social work practice with students, teachers, families, schools and communities in the 21st century. A special focus is placed on children within the school system who are affected by developmental and/or historical trauma, differing abilities, poverty, diverse gender identities and sexual orientations. This course aligns with the competencies set forth by the National Association of Social Work (NASW) Standards for School Social Work Practice.
School social workers and pupil personnel workers interested in taking this course can complete and submit a non-degree application. Students will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this course.
