Hurricane Dorian Update #2

Hurricane Dorian Update #2

AUG. 29, 6 P.M. — Tropical Storm Dorian has been upgraded to a Category 2 Hurricane. According to the National Hurricane Center, the earliest expected arrival of tropical storm winds in Florida is Saturday evening. Barry University’s Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the path of Hurricane Dorian.

Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas, are closed until further notice. Additionally, Barry University campuses in Miami Shores and our Andreas School of Law in Orlando, as well as all other sites throughout Florida, will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, until further notice.

This closure means that all classes with online components are suspended until the University re-opens. All decisions related to clinical rotations will be communicated by the program director. Residential students on main campus will receive additional information about storm preparations later this evening via email from the Department of Housing and Residence Life.

Official University communication regarding Dorian will be made via emails, RAVE (text, voice & email), Facebook, Twitter, and University internal and external websites.
