In spring 2019 a stimulating social event, organized by Barry University faculty members Dr. Zuzana Zajickova from the Department of Physical Sciences and Dr. Michael Robinson from Biology called Hops for Science brought together scientists and students from five local universities across South Florida. In the beer garden of the Invasive Species Brewery in Fort Lauderdale, a brewery created and co-owned by Barry biology alumnus Phil Gillis approximately 60 people listened to and mingled with six guest speakers, who connected their research with everyday life, while addressing issues related to the environmental and health through social issues.
The second Hops for Science, October 27, 2019, organized by Larkin University faculty and students, again offers a unique opportunity for anyone interested in science to come together, learn about current scientific research in various disciplines, social issues within the scientific community, socialize, engage in brief discussions and network with science faculty and students from local universities.
