Fulbright Scholar, Barry professor Dr. Zuzana Zajickova’s research is published in Chemistry Esteemed Journal

In the past, Barry University professor, Dr. Zuzana Zajickova, has shared her experience as a Fulbright Scholar in the Czech Republic with the Barry community. Thanks to the scholarship, she was able to join forces with other experts at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy at Charles University, Hradec Kralove. In the fall of 2019, she uncovered groundbreaking information alongside two experts from the STARSS project (Specialized Team for Advanced Research on Separation Science).

Their result of this collaboration, made possible by the Fulbright Scholarship, was published in the top experimental ISI journal Analytical Chemistry of the American Chemical Society. Her paper, “Columns for Supercritical Fluid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry Analysis of Polypeptide,” was accepted less than a month after it was submitted -- no small feat for those in-the-know. The Charles University website explains her achievement, “She demonstrated gradient separation of a mixture of large polypeptides carried out using monolithic poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) column and carbon dioxide/methanol mobile phase.”

Thanks to the Fulbright program, Dr. Zajickova also enjoyed the benefits of cultural immersion, found beautiful mentorships and friendships, and solidified her place in the international science community. These strengthened collaborations and cooperation with her overseas chemistry colleagues helped Dr. Zajickova bring her research to the next level -- and helped it truly shine.
