With legal studies identified as a growing profession in the state of Florida, Barry University’s School of Adult and Continuing Education recently reached out to students and professionals in this field throughout the state.
Several university faculty and administrators from the Brevard County and Palm Beach County sites represented Barry at the Paralegal Association of Florida Conference, May 1-2, 2009.
“Our purpose in being present as a sponsor and displaying our information was to market the legal studies bachelor’s degree throughout the state of Florida,” said organizer and attendee Christina Davis, enrollment director for Brevard and Volusia Counties.
With approximately 200 attendees, Barry’s program was able to reach many individuals interested in this growing field.
Barry University’s program stood out because of the university’s unique requirement that students sit the national certified legal assistant (CLA) examination before commencement. In fact, it was because of this requirement that the National Association of Legal Assistants invited the program to attend.
The Bachelor’s in Legal Studies prepares students for a career as a legal assistant or paralegal. The program is currently offered at Barry’s sites in Miami Shores, Kendall, Melbourne, Palm Beach Gardens, Port St. Lucie, Orlando, Tallahassee and Tampa.
