Barry's School of Adult & Continuing Education cuts tuition costs for unemployed

Miami Shores, Fla. – In a move that provides some relief for those struggling in the current economic crisis, Barry University’s School of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) is giving a 20 percent tuition discount to those who are unemployed, university officials recently announced.

All ACE sites across the state, which are currently in 17 counties in Florida including Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, will offer the discount. The new 20 percent discount is in addition to the school’s current reduced off campus tuition rate. Under the terms of the discount, any new or inactive student who has recently lost their job and enrolls in ACE’s Fall B semester classes, which begins Oct. 17, or Spring A or B 2010 semesters is eligible for the discount. Inactive students who have lost their jobs and reapplies for classes are also eligible.

The discount applies to undergraduate and graduate classes and will remain in effect until the student completes the program. Documentation proving the student’s unemployment is required. ACE offers 15 degree programs and nine certificate programs, and offers classes in 17 counties across the state. A list of all programs and sites is available at www.barry.edu/ACE.

In addition, Barry University, which participates in the Chapter 33 Yellow Ribbon program for veterans, offers an additional discount for veterans who qualify for this program.
