On Friday, Oct. 30, Barry University will invite children from the local community to its Miami Shores campus to participate in two safe, fun and family-friendly events when Miami-Dade schools close for Teacher Work Day. Kids can kick off Halloween early at Barry’s BUCkid’s Day Camp Boo Bash from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at Housing and Residence Life’s Trick-or-Treat program from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Barry’s Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness will offer kids ages 5 to 12 an entire day of fun-filled Halloween activities at its BUCkid’s Boo Bash. Children are invited to come in costume to the day camp to take part in a “mad scientist’s computer lab,” a “creepy carnival,” a “haunted campus,” trick-or-treating, fortune telling and other Halloween festivities. Pumpkin patch pizza, spider cider and cryptic cupcakes will be served for lunch.

In the afternoon, Barry’s Department of Housing and Residence Life will host its annual Trick-or-Treat program, offering children 12 years old and younger an early evening of trick-or-treating on Barry’s campus. Students are invited to go trick-or-treating throughout various departments on campus and take part in several arts and crafts activities, including pumpkin painting and a spider-ring toss competition.

The cost per child for the BUCkid’s Boo Bash is $35 for children of Barry students, faculty or staff, $40 for children of Barry alumni and $50 for children in the community. Registration forms can be downloaded at http://www.barry.edu/hpls/recreation/DayCamp.htm and should be mailed with registration fees (cash or check only) to:
