Barry CARES launches new "Thank You for Caring Message Board"

Barry CARES launches new "Thank You for Caring Message Board"
Do you want to thank a faculty or staff member at Barry? Starting Dec. 1, 2009 you can publicly recognize them by visiting the “Thank You for Caring Message Board” and posting your message of appreciation.

The “Thank You for Caring Message Board” is the newest Barry CARES application that provides members of the Barry community an online message board to publicly post a message of gratitude to someone who has made a positive impact in their day. Be one of the first to thank someone who served you by visiting http://bucwis.barry.edu/thankyou.

Excerpt from Corina Velasquez, School of Education student:

"…I would like to commend Dr. David Kopp for his leadership, expertise, knowledge, and enthusiasm as a professor and advisor. I am so happy to be in this program. I honestly thought that transitioning into the "big Barry" would be a difficult task. On the contrary, with Dr. Kopp's help, my transition was very smooth…”

In 2006, the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) with the help of many departments throughout campus, helped launch the Barry CARES initiative for civility and respect. It was designed to improve the campus’ service culture among students, faculty and staff. Since its inception more than a thousand members of the Barry community have used the feedback system to share positive feelings about what was being done well and thoughts on what could be done better.

This year, in an attempt to showcase the positive things Barry members do every day, the “Thank You for Caring Message Board” will be initiated at an event Tuesday, Dec. 1 from noon to 1 p.m. The database will serve as the central site where all “good deeds” will be shared, university-wide.

Excerpt from Graphic Arts Associate Professor, Thomas Rockwell, Fine Arts department.

“I would like to thank David Baldwin and Gerard Pierre-Antoine for the work they just completed in ADR 218. With no budget and scraps of wood, our needs were met due to the skill of these gentlemen. When the "Critique Wall" was completed we found ourselves with a well-crafted wall in which to display artwork during class critiques. Thank you so much for the terrific job.”

This event is sponsored by the Quality Improvement Program.
