Dr. Laura Finley has been elected to the Board of Directors of Amnesty International USA. She joins the board in summer 2010 for a three-year term.
Finley earned her PhD in Sociology from Western Michigan University in 2002. She also holds an M.A and B.A. from WMU. Dr. Finley is assistant professor of sociology and criminology at Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. She is author or co-author of eight books and numerous journal articles and book chapters.
Finley is also on the board of directors of No More Tears, a non-profit that assists victims of domestic violence, UNIFEM East Florida Chapter, and is the liaison to K-12 educators for the Peace and Justice Studies Association.
