Wellness Day 2012: “Eat Well, Live Well”

This year, the WIN Committee invites you to nourish yourself and enrich your mind, body and soul though all the 8 dimensions of the wellness wheel.

Please join us throughout the day for fun-filled activities and learning opportunities.

Vendor Fair:

Come join us at our annual vendor fair located on the Thompson Lawn. The vendor fair will provide an opportunity for the Barry community to educate themselves on the 8 dimensions of the wellness wheel. Different vendors will be representing all aspects of wellness, including chiropractic and acupuncture services, career services, health care and much more.

Zumba Party:

The importance of the physical dimension of wellness is no joke, but this will be a fun, dance inspired workout designed for members of the Barry community to discover how enjoyable physical activity can be!

“Food For Thought” Lecture Series:

Come join us as we explore how nutrition is incorporated into each dimension of our lives by attending these presentations:

  • 11:30-12:00pm Social: “Live Wise and Socialize”- Wendy Villeta, Barry University’s Event Coordinator
  • 12:00pm-12:30pm Emotional: “Thoughts, Feelings, and Food” –Dr. Simpson, HPLS Department
  • 12:30-1:00pm Physical: “What to Eat for Exercise” – Dr. Gordon, Nova Southeastern University
  • 1:00-1:30pm Vocational: “Are You Feeding Your Passions” -Shaunelle Wall, Career Services
  • 1:30-2:00pm Intellectual: “The Healthy Intellectual Body”- Nathalie Magno, FLIPANY
  • 2:00-2:30pm Spiritual: “As We Feed the Body, We Nourish the Spirit”- Dr. Carmer, HPLS Department
  • 2:30-3:00pm Financial: “Financial Health 4.0”- Dr. Castater, Business Department
  • 4:00-4:30pm Global: “Planting Garden, Building Community.”- Dr. Finley, Sociology Department **This lecture will be located in front of the Campus Garden on the West side of the Chapel.**

Food Demonstrations:

Join the Sisters in Pink to learn how to make delicious and healthy Ratatouille and Turkey Chili at one of both of the food demonstration sessions.

Spin Session:

Come and try indoor cycling and get a fun and challenging mid-day workout in! Find out how much energy that this workout will give you for the rest of the day!
