Campaign Overview
The vision of the “Let’s Move Barry! Campaign” is to make a physically active lifestyle an integral part of everyday living for overall health within the Barry community.
Our mission is to challenge the University community to engage in healthy and physically active lifestyles.
Created: 2011
The “Let’s Move Barry! Campaign” provides a platform to promote an active lifestyle among faculty, staff and students. Through a number of physical activity interventions, “Let’s Move Barry!” seeks to engage and challenge the University community to and active lifestyle and reduce sitting time.
The “Let’s Move Barry!” campaign is integrated into the University’s Mission and strategic agenda hrough the development of collaborative partnerships to pursue systemic, self-sustaining solutions to the rise in chronic diseases, as well ensure the University’s financial sustainability and vitality by reducing health care cost and responding to the needs of our University community.
In addition, “Let’s Move Barry!” is integrated with Michelle’s Obama national “Let’s Move” campaign, the National Association of Sport and Physical Education’s (NASPE) “Let’s Move in Schools” campaign goals, the United Nations Millennium Developmental goal to deduce childhood obesity, as well as the World Health Organization’s Workers’ Health Global Plan of Action to ‘Protect and Promote Health in the Workplace,’ advocating healthy diet and physical activity among workers and providing guidance and promoting health at the workplace.
